I was having this problem too. All I did was open activity monitor, force quit the OptimusMiniThree driver and opened it again.
Hope it helps!

I too am having this problem. I am also using Mac OS X 10.5.6 with the latest software updates and the beta 0.72 version. I have the illumination set to never turn off but it still goes of and doesn't come back on in the following situations:

- as soon as my computer's screen saver turns
- when i put the computer to sleep
- when I switch users

I have checked the preferences and researched options of controlling the usb ports separately and I can't find anything. I do know that when my iPhone is plugged into the computer it will sleep but as soon as my computer turns on my iPhone does aswell. This tells me it isn't a problem with the usb port.

Also, sometimes I have to unplug and plug in the keyboard 2 or 3 times. It has behaved this way from the time i first turned it on (2 weeks ago).

Any solutions would be helpful.

Hi,

I do also encounter this problem. I use Mac OS X 10.5.6 with latest software updates and the beta 0.72 version of Configurator. Every time that the illumination of the device is turned off (currently after 5 min), it doesn't get back to life when using the computer again. Re-connecting the USB cable solves the problem.

Note that the idle-mode is disbaled (set to 'never'), only the illumination is turned off after 5 min.

Anyone else encountering this on Mac? Solutions?
Well, itīs disappointing. I donīt assume Art Lebedev is producing them in their facility... but well, itīs their name on it and even chinese manufacturers need to satisfy the quality expectations. Mistakes happen, but we are talking about a serial issue and the best way to maintain customer satisfaction would have been replace the old/defect parts in the storages of the vendors for new and refurbish the old.

ASAM (fixed): "Can't find program" because no spaces before parameters

(8/9/08) Happy to report that this item was fixed in ASAM 1_4_3.

For the "Start Process" option, if you receive an error about the program not being found (and it really exists at the location you provide) it may be because you have an older version of ASAM.

Try putting a space before the "Parameters"for "Start Process" or perhaps you could put double quotes around the program name / path.

In the older versions, when the ASAM settings are saved and loaded, if you put in a leading space in the Parameter field it will be stripped and need to be re-added manually.

In version 1_4_3, both problems have been fixed (thanks!)

Hi,

i received my OM3 v2.0 today, but it seems to show the problem you describe.

Pictures of the problem:

The middle display is darker, some kind of display refresh is noticeable on it, and it seems to burn-in the last displayed icon.

The Button functionality is OK.

I think i will return it as a warranty case and request a new one (hopefully better).

I donīt think it matters, but for the records:
OM3 was plugged directly into the host PC (Toshiba Tecra M5 Laptop), no hub.
Operating System: WinXP SP3, 1.0.33 beta OM configurator, alternatively tried the prolific USB-to-serial bridge drivers V2.0.2.25.

Sorry, but i canīt see a serial number or something identifying the batch.

with best regards,

I am working with a client who purchased 10+ OM3's for a voting system.

We have opened 5 of them, and all have the same problem: 1 or 2 buttons are bright, the others are dim. Sometimes it is the middle button that is bright, other times it is side buttons, or a single side button.

We have tested all 5 OM3's on over 8 different PCs (Laptops and Desktops, all varying makes and models), and the problems persist. I have tested with my own test app, and with the configuration utility. Same problems in both.

Any ideas? I doubt we got 5 defective units at once (possible, but not probable).

I'm also experiencing this problem (0.72B) on my MacBook Pro, and its very frustrating. In fact, it pretty-much renders my Optimus Mini Three useless :-(
When can this bug be addressed?

Buggy Prolific Driver....

Please PLEASE get rid of, or at least fix, the horribly buggy and broken Prolific driver...

I have the latest version of the Optimus mini 3 configurator software 0.72 beta installed on my Mac Pro (3.0GHZ Quad Xeon with 4GB RAM running Mac OS X 10.5.1).

After a reboot the mini 3 runs fine for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Then my system seems to freeze for a few seconds, then starts working again but with the Optimus mini dead. Occasionally it will freeze for a few seconds, then start working again but with the Optimus mini working again. The Optimus mini driver seems to be working according to my system log, and from searching on the web it appears this issue is common to other users of the Prolific USB-to-serial driver used by the mini 3. This is not acceptable, especially for a product as pricey as the mini 3.

Other than the Optimus mini 3, my Mac Pro system is perfectly stable.

I also have this problem. When I run my game, I double-click it's executable file and a launcher appears. Then the Mini-three displays the correct, application-detected buttons. But after getting past the launcher and into the game the butons revert to the default layout...

The executable does not change in the task manager.

GMail notifier bug

I use gmail to check my personal email (arkadiy@arkadiy.com), through Google Apps.

I don't access gmail.com

In fact, I cannot login into my email via gmail.com

I use gmail.arkadiy.com

GMail notifier seems to be hardwired to go to gmail.com

It does check email correctly, though.
