This is an update to my last posting. I have done a fresh install of my os today. I have been able to get the OM3 to work. I would add that it does look rather lovely...and it's just afternoon, must look smashing at night~!!!

The procedure is not difficult, however if you are using the wrong files or standard drivers to work on your 64bit vista os; you will likely need a very good registry cleaning program or to reboot your os.

I always do fresh os boots every 30 days...so it's of no concern to have to do this. If you don't do fresh boots then I would suggest that the OM3, should start you doing this.

Very good reasons for fresh boots, it cleans your pc of junk, missing, corrupt, incomplete files; all help to make your pc run a great deal faster.

To further explain what I am saying is the old drivers must be removed completely in order for the OM3 to work on Vista 64 os.

Any questions on the actual install procedure...I would be glad to help anyone just pm me.

Saying you should just press F8 during boot is not an instruction...I found something on the net last night that said to install unsigned drivers you need to press f8 during windows boot.

That an option asking if you want to disable driver signature enforcement appears. But, nothing comes up at all.

Alternately, it says go to the run command prompt and type:

bcdedit,set loadoptions ddisable_integrity_checks

After entering the bcdedit & set the pc says loadoptions & ddisable_integrity_checks is not a recognizable command.

So, this has not worked for me at all. I am not going to be changing os or anything for this product.

If it does not work then I'm sending it straight back to the seller for a full refund then he can get a refund from the manufacturer.

I think this is aweful how there's no driver for a product sold to the consumer as works with vista...

What a fcuking lie...

Hello I have read this post and I also have Vista 64 ultimate. I am not amused at all that the manufacturer lists Vista compatible on the packaging & advertisement. Instead of vista 32 only.
I have spent $150 for something that I am writing to a forum to be able to get it to work?
Guess this is a sign about all the optimus products? I would be in raged if I had this problem having spent $1599 for the maximus.
If this go around is workable then I will enjoy the product and it may over come my initial disappointment.
Also he states you have to "disable Driver Signing Verification every time you boot Windows Vista (press F8 during boot and choose the option)." Is there any possible way to get a signed copy of these drivers? I installed the OMThree under WinXP without any problems. Fine.
But then, I decided to install it also to an older WinME PC, using the

Past this installation and a manual copy of msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll
into ..windows/system (there were 2 error messages past the restart of the PC
askin for these two files), I hooked up the PMThree and ...

Anyone tried to install it under WinME here? With success?

Seems that Prolific has done some changes to drivers making them not compatoble with Optimus. Our 1.0.26 release has Prolific PL2303 drivers v.2.0.2.25 included in the package. But this version seems to be not very stable, on some systems Optimus just is not seen (drivers are not activated when you plug it in), and we found that installing v2.0.2.1 helps - Optimus starts to work.

Oh, and some people still fail to get it to work refusing to install unsigned driver from Prolific.

Their home page - www.prolific.com.tw - offers driver package with installer, that is signed, but is does not work with Optimus. The version is 2.0.2.1, as I remember. I still wonder how came that they have 2 similar version numbers, one works fine while another does not.

Installing Configurator and Making OM3 work

Hi all!

Some people run into "too clever WinXP" problem, so i'd like to suggest the order of OMC installation.

XP users:

First, run the installation package (.msi), and only after then plug in OM3. The package contains specific Prolific PL2303 drivers needed to create a virtual USB-COM port for communication with OM3. Other versions of the driver, even those downloaded from Prolific, may not work properly! Currently available at http://www.prolific.com.tw driver, though has an installer and is even signed, does NOT work with optimus. It has even lesser number than one we use (2.0.2.1 vs 2.0.2.25), that is strange.
WinXP will try to auto-detect OM3 and may assign its own USB-COM driver to it, that leads to OM3 not working. In this case you should manually remove the driver, then reinstall the package.

Earlier Win version users:

You should not encounter this problem, for earlier systems do not have USB-COM drivers or do not use autodetection, so OM3 will not be recognised without Configurator installed.
